Bowling Green beat Fort Worth on the strength of starter Gary Compton's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. Compton, now 2-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Losses have been few and far between for the Cats so far this season. Their record drops to 17-7.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when left fielder Juan López, who is tied for 6th in the NAL in home runs with 5, drew a walk. The Racers went on to win.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," López said.
