| Caterpillars Raise Rally Flag, Beat Joplin, 5-3 | The Peoria Caterpillars topped the Joplin Fireballs, 5-3, in Darryl Kile League action at Excavatar Park. The player of the game was Peoria pitcher and Bernice, Louisiana native Chris Sanchez. Freddy Aguilar was credited with the save for Peoria, his 6th of the season. The Fireballs, now 6-14, continue their poor start.
Had David Acosta not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Acosta hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Caterpillars.
"Enjoyed this one," Acosta told the Peoria Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
