| McDade, Bears Beat Canadians, 11-4 | Birmingham played host to Vancouver at the friendly confines of Edgbaston.
The Birmingham Bears topped the Vancouver Canadians, 11-4, with right fielder Matt McDade playing a big role. McDade was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Bears in the win. Birmingham reliever Daniel Farley was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was David Peralta.
Jeff Urban, who is tied for 10th in the NAL in hits with 19, aided the Birmingham cause with a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the second baseman went 2-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
In postgame comments to the Birmingham Daily, Urban said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Canadians fall to 7-9 and continue their lackluster start in 2038.
