| Toreros Lose to Rockhounds, 8-3 | The Midland Rockhounds picked up a win at Field of Dreams, knocking off the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 8-3. Starting pitcher Andy Mendoza played a key role in the triumph. The win brings the Rockhounds to 10-7, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
In the bottom of the 6th, center fielder Hector Lopez gave Midland the lead when he hit a 2-run triple. The Rockhounds had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out triple off Cabo San Lucas pitcher Ian Portz changed that -- and Midland went on to win.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Lopez. "More importantly, I had a good game."
