Bowling Green starter Gary Compton pitched effectively against the Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston. The right-hander led his team to a 8-3 win. Losses have been few and far between for the Bears so far this season. Their record drops to 7-3.

Juan López helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run double to give Bowling Green a 2-0 lead.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," López told the Bowling Green Times.
