| Cats Bridle Phantoms, 3-2 | The Fort Worth Cats eked out a 3-2 win versus the Coronado Phantoms at LaGrave Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Jim Currie, who captured player of the game honors. Fort Worth, now 7-1, has played well in the early going.
Had Jeremy Bassett not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Bassett hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cats.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Bassett said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
