| Rhinos Bridle Titanic, 3-2 | The Rhinos had to overcome a fine effort from Belfast pitcher Kichibei Endo to grab a narrow 3-2 win at The Rubber Grounds. Endo went 6.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. Rubber City reliever Carlos Alonzo picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Jeff Shue was saddled with the loss. Rudy Cortez sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Had Fernando Calvo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Calvo hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Rhinos.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Calvo. "And not try to do too much."
Rubber City, now 4-13, is off to a slow start.
