| Gravel 3-4, Bears Move to 6-1 | The Birmingham Bears topped the Reno Rockets, 9-5, in Nick Adenhart League action at Red Rocket Field. The player of the game was Birmingham first baseman Joe Gravel. Birmingham reliever Francisco Palazuelos was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Bill Rankin took the loss. The Bears, now 6-1, have stormed out of the gates.
Gravel had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Bill Rankin, he banged a grand slam home run to center, giving the Bears a 7-4 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Gravel.
"I guess we'll all be a happy family for at least one day," said Gravel.
