| Bears Turn Back Reno, 4-2 | The Birmingham Bears had to overcome a big game from Reno right fielder David Decker to leave Red Rocket Field with a 4-2 victory. Decker went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Cory Hoffman got the save, the 3rd for him this season. Birmingham is off to a hot start at 5-1.
The Bears got a big at-bat from left fielder Albert Rivas. For the game, Rivas was 1-4 with a home run. In the top of the seventh, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Birmingham a 3-2 lead.
Rivas told a Birmingham Daily reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
