| Bears Win Thriller, 3-2 | The Silver Lake Baristas got a superb performance from pitcher Tenkou Miura, but the Birmingham Bears still won the game, 3-2. Miura was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. Birmingham reliever Cory Hoffman picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kenny Moran was saddled with the loss. The Bears, now 4-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
The Bears got a big at-bat from right fielder Albert Rivas. For the game, Rivas went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the tenth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Birmingham a 3-2 lead.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Rivas. "I like it."
