| Big Day at the Plate for Amaya Not Enough for Bombers | Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the South Carolina Bombers home opener. Phil Taylor started for the home team against Eddie Taveras for the Maple Marauders. The Bombers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 7-6, Maple. Tony Amaya was named player of the game. Minoru Aoki earned the save, his 1st, for the Marauders.
The Marauders got a big at-bat from catcher Shoji Hosokawa. For the game, Hosokawa was 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while adding 3 RBI. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 4th hit of the season gave Maple a 7-6 lead.
