Bears Turn Back Silver Lake, 3-2

Colby Virella pitched well, but the Silver Lake Baristas still lost the game, falling 3-2 to the Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston. Cory Hoffman got the save, the 2nd for him this season. The Bears, now 3-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.

The Bears got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Victor Manzo. For the game, Manzo went 1 for 1 with a double. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Birmingham a 3-2 lead.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Manzo told the Birmingham Daily.
