Redbirds Need Extra Frames to Get Past Bumblebees

The Candiac Redbirds scored a 10-9 win versus the Pasadena Bumblebees at The Hole. Candiac shortstop Kevin McVey nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Candiac reliever Neil Vandermark picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Adam Hirsch was saddled with the loss. Candiac, now 1-2, is off to a slow start.

The critical at-bat for Candiac came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, McVey hit a run-scoring single, putting Candiac up, 9-8.

McVey called the triumph "a good team win."
