| Victory Over Pioneers Takes Kansas City to 13-3 | In a tight contest at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, the Kansas City Tornadoes edged the Vancouver Pioneers by the score of 6-5. Kansas City catcher Antonio Santana, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. The winner was Kansas City reliever Al Hrabosky Jr., now 2-0. The loser was Mickael Raymond. Kansas City, now 13-3, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Santana contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Kansas City in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Santana took a fastball from Dennis Gates and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Tornadoes to leap in front, 5-2.
"I felt good up there," said Santana. "I saw the ball well."
