| Paczkis Get Close Win Over Canadians | The Paczkis had to overcome a fine performance from Vancouver pitcher Tommy Brereton to grab a 4-3 win at Stanley Park. Brereton allowed 1 earned run over 5.1 innings. Takeshi Gato got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 0. John Knight nailed down his 1st save.
The Paczkis got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Mike Ray. For the game, Ray was 1-1, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 1st hit of the season gave Canton a 4-3 lead.
After the game, Canton manager Brian Moore applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
