| Hops Get Road Win, 3-1 | The San Diego Hops racked up a win at The Rubber Grounds, bumping off the Rubber City Rhinos, 3-1. Jarrod Cousins, who started for San Diego, pitched effectively for his team. Cousins got the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Cousins allowed 1 earned run. With the win, the Hops improved to 65-96.
The Hops got a big at-bat from designated hitter Ryan Lewry. For the game, Lewry went 1 for 3 with a home run. In the top of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 12th home run of the season gave San Diego a 1-0 lead.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Lewry told the San Diego Daily News. "You win just by scoring more runs."
