| Republic Get Close Win Over Hops | Bobby Criss could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his San Diego Hops lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the So Cal Republic at The Brew Stade. So Cal reliever George Fortin was credited with the win, to go to 8-4. Bobby Criss took the loss for San Diego. The Republic bumped their record to 90-67 with this latest triumph.
The Republic got a big at-bat from designated hitter Miguel Pacheco. For the game, Pacheco went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the eighth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 17th home run of the season gave So Cal a 2-1 lead.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Pacheco.
