| South Carolina Bats Go Silent in 3-0 Loss | In a low-scoring tilt between the Vancouver Pioneers and the South Carolina Bombers, Dennis Gates was the difference-maker. The Vancouver right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-0 win. Gates, now 7-11, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing no earned runs. The Pioneers now have a mark of 63-94.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from third baseman Carlos Gallardo. For the game, Gallardo was 1 for 3 with a walk. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 83rd hit of the season gave Vancouver a 1-0 lead.
