| Blazers Prevail, 11-9, Over Vancouver | The Bloomington Blazers outlasted Carlos Gallardo and the Vancouver Pioneers, 11-9. Gallardo was impressive in the loss. The Vancouver third baseman belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Bloomington reliever Danny Reliford picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Ryan Merrill was saddled with the loss. Shichiro Iba notched his 19th save in 25 chances.
Fernando Franco was 2-3 with 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Bloomington. The 31-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 8-8 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Dan Van Sickle. It was his 71st RBI of the season.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Franco said. "We did a good job of that today."
The Blazers bumped their record to 86-69 with this latest triumph.
