| Hops Edge Past Beavers, 4-3 | The Brew Stade was sent into a frenzy with a walk-off win.
The San Diego Hops defeated the Portland Beavers, 4-3, in Roberto Clemente League action at The Brew Stade, with San Diego pitcher Landy Lu named player of the game. Reliever Jimmy Shumaker picked up the win. His record improves to 8-9. Chris Ackley took the loss.
San Diego won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Chris Ackley on the mound for Portland, pinch hitter Salvatore Marroquin hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Hops fans to their feet.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Lu. "But I have better dreams after a win."
At 63-91, San Diego is in 5th place in the Roberto Clemente League Mike Brouillette Division.
