Mustangs Waste Great Game from Moreno

Alex Moreno had a good game, but he could not keep the Mile High Mustangs from falling, 8-5, to the Eureka Hornets at McNichols Stadium. The Mile High catcher belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice in the loss. Ezra Bryan notched his 17th save in 19 chances. With the win, Eureka has a record of 72-79. Mile High falls to 69-85.

Had Fernando Vela not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Vela hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Hornets.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Stephen Jackson said.
