| Beavers Win at So Cal, 8-4 | Portland left-hander Elias Ortiz made an effective start against the So Cal Republic at House of the Republic, leading his team to a 8-4 win. The Beavers, now 10-5, have been on a roll in the early going.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from left fielder Eddie Villegas. For the game, Villegas went 2-5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 9th hit of the season gave Portland a 3-2 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Ortiz told reporters after the game.
