| Earthquakes Prevail, 4-3, Over Bloomington | San Francisco beat Bloomington at Golden Gate Park, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Ka-fei Bi, who earned player of the game honors. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles. San Francisco reliever Steve Cherry was the winner. His record is now 7-3. Joey Steamer took the loss. The Earthquakes have now won 4 straight.
The Earthquakes got a big at-bat from center fielder Marshall Clark. For the game, Clark went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 173rd hit of the season gave San Francisco a 4-3 lead.
"I like our mindset right now," said San Francisco manager Evan Warner.
