Toreros Lose to Rockhounds, 5-1

The Midland Rockhounds topped the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 5-1, in Thurman Munson League action at Field de Los Layendas. The player of the game was Midland pitcher and Rivas, Nicaragua native Andy Mendoza. The Rockhounds bumped their record to 76-71 with this latest triumph.

Héctor Lara, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2033, aided the Midland cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth. For the game, the left fielder was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Mendoza.
