| Stogies Top Republic in 12 | Havana and So Cal duked it out at House of the Republic and the Stogies came out victorious.
So Cal left fielder Walt Muller had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Muller hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Havana beat the Republic, 7-6. Muller was named the player of the game despite the loss. The Stogies bumped their record to 89-55 with this latest triumph.
Burt Kavanagh's hit in the top of the 12th was a game-changer. With one out, he rapped a fastball from Hal Walshe for a run-scoring single. It put Havana in front, 7-6.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Kavanagh.
