Earthquakes Take Nail-Biter Over G.o.D.

The San Francisco Earthquakes defeated the Tonga G.o.D., 8-5. Earning player of the game honors was shortstop Alex Bahena, who hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. San Francisco reliever Steve Cherry got the win, raising his record to 6-3. Justin Davidov was tagged with the loss. San Francisco, at 68-72, occupies 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.

Bahena had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the tenth. On a 2-1 fastball from Justin Davidov, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Earthquakes a 8-5 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Bahena.

"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Bahena said.
