| Republic Fall Short, 3-2, at Midland | The Midland Rockhounds did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the So Cal Republic at Field of Dreams. Nobody did more than pitcher John Denny, who captured player of the game honors. Denny went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9. His record improves to 13-6. The Rockhounds' win now puts them at 73-68.
Hector Lopez, who is tied for 3rd in the TML in triples with 11, aided the Midland cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the center fielder was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Midland skipper Anastasio Ojeda. "I can't complain."
