| Marauders Lose, 4-2, at Field of Dreams | Midland rode a good effort from starter Andy Mendoza to beat the Maple Marauders at Field of Dreams. The final score was 4-2. Mendoza, now 12-10, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Amirtharaj Nagaraja was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 25 of 29 save opportunities.
The Rockhounds got a big at-bat from center fielder Hector Lopez. For the game, Lopez went 1 for 4 with a triple. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 10th triple of the season gave Midland a 1-0 lead.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Mendoza. "Successful pitchers do it."
The Rockhounds bumped their record to 70-67 with this latest triumph.
