| Beavers Trip Republic in Extras | The Portland Beavers picked up a win at House of the Republic, knocking off the So Cal Republic, 7-3. Starting pitcher Lance Bundy, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The winner was Son Mai in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Paul Calamy took the loss. At 9-5, the Beavers have played well so far.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from first baseman Robert Mentzer. For the game, Mentzer was 1 for 5 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the 13th, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Portland a 7-3 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Mentzer.
