| Hops Lose, 3-1, at Aloha Stadium | Hawaii beat San Diego on the strength of starter Ryokan Endo's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. Endo, now 6-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 4, and allowing 1 earned run. Amaui Mahi'ai was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 21 of 29 save opportunities.
The Islanders got a big at-bat from right fielder Joe Coleman. For the game, Coleman went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Hawaii a 3-1 lead.
