| Stogies Solve Rhinos, 5-4 | The Rubber City Rhinos got a superb performance from pitcher Goro Ota. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Havana. The Stogies won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Ota was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Eddy Compres earned the win for Havana. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 2-0. The last-place Rhinos have dropped 4 straight games.
The Stogies got a big at-bat from first baseman Burt Kavanagh. For the game, Kavanagh went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Havana a 5-4 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Kavanagh said after the game.
