| Hornets Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start | The Eureka Hornets picked up a win at The Nest, knocking off the Quebec Armada, 8-5. Starting pitcher Juan Mendoza, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Mendoza got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. Mendoza allowed 3 earned runs. Eureka is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 5th in 13 games.
The tension was thick in the top of the sixth inning. With the bases loaded and Quebec trailing 4-1, Juan Mendoza had to get a big out. On a 2-2 fastball, he retired John Rollins, who struck out.
