| Earthquakes Sneak Past Republic, 6-5 | So Cal got a terrific performance from pitcher Dan Garcia, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Francisco Earthquakes. San Francisco won the House of the Republic contest, 6-5. Garcia was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball. Reliever Pang Yip picked up the win. His record improves to 3-3. Pin-zhen Au took the loss. The Earthquakes now have a mark of 60-69.
The Earthquakes got a big at-bat from catcher Jun Ogura. For the game, Ogura went 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 68th hit of the season gave San Francisco a 5-3 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Ogura.
