It was a sensational day at the plate for Barry Wirfel as he led the charge to a 16-5 win over the Hops. The Kansas City left fielder was pure misery for the San Diego pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.

"Wirfel put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Carl Best, manager for the Hops, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."

Barry Wirfel doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

Presently Wirfel is batting .305 with 149 hits and 23 home runs. He has knocked in 68 runs and scored 78 times.
