| Pioneers Turn Back Brooklyn, 7-5 | With shortstop José Zavala leading the charge, the Vancouver Pioneers defeated the Brooklyn Black Knights, 7-5, at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. Zavala, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. With the win, the Pioneers have a record of 54-73.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from second baseman Rob Muniz. For the game, Muniz was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 14th double of the season gave Vancouver a 2-0 lead.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Zavala told a Vancouver Times reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
