| Marauders Lose, 3-0, at Golden Gate Park | Norbert Philips could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Maple Marauders lost, dropping a 3-0 decision to the San Francisco Earthquakes at Golden Gate Park. San Francisco reliever Steve Cherry picked up the win to move to 5-3. Norbert Philips suffered the loss. San Francisco, at 58-63, occupies 4th place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division.
The Earthquakes got a big at-bat from shortstop Robbie Quiroz. For the game, Quiroz went 1-4. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 60th hit of the season gave San Francisco a 1-0 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Quiroz told the San Francisco Bulletin.
