| Alomar Impresses in South Carolina Loss | The Vancouver Pioneers had to overcome a big game from South Carolina first baseman José Alomar to leave Bomber Ballpark with a 11-9 victory. Alomar slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Vancouver reliever Ryan Merrill picked up the win, bumping his record to 7-1. Sandy Ponce was collared with the loss. Willard Stady notched his 7th save in 14 chances.
Colin Carpenter aided the Vancouver cause with a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1 for 5 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Carpenter said. "We did a good job of that today."
The Pioneers' win now puts them at 51-70.
