| Rockhounds Lose to Hornets, 3-2 | The Eureka Hornets got a stellar performance from pitcher Jerry Kennedy, who handcuffed the Midland offense en route to a 3-2 win at The Nest. Kennedy went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-0. Ezra Bryan notched his 7th save in 8 chances.
The Hornets got a big at-bat from second baseman Justin Duncan. For the game, Duncan went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Eureka a 3-2 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Eureka manager Stephen Jackson said.
With the win, the Hornets improved to 56-62.
