Sutton Slugs Marauders to 17-7 Win

Maple and South Carolina took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

The Maple Marauders topped the South Carolina Bombers by the score of 17-7, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Jesse Sutton. Sutton hit 2 home runs, while scoring 4 times and driving in 2 for the Marauders on the day. Eddie Taveras earned the win to go to 8-9. He allowed 6 earned runs on 8 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts.

Maple relied on the hitting of Tommy Buford to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Marauders on top, 12-5. For the game, Buford had 1 home run and 1 single in 7 at-bats.
