| Pioneers Turn Back San Francisco, 5-3 | The Vancouver Pioneers topped the San Francisco Earthquakes, 5-3, with catcher Milt Mezzanotte playing a big role. Mezzanotte went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Pioneers in the win. Richard Amezquita picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 1-1. The Earthquakes fall to 5-7 and continue their wobbly start to the 2038 season.
The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth when Mezzanotte hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Pioneers into the lead, 3-1.
