| Islanders Edge Past Black Knights, 6-5 | Hawaii beat Brooklyn at Aloha Stadium, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Fred Argueta, who earned player of the game honors. Argueta got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. Argueta allowed 4 earned runs. Amaui Mahi'ai nailed down his 1st save.
Frank Nicholson drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Hawaii. The 27-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off John Swope. It was his 1st walk of the season.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Argueta told the Hawaii Herald. "It's as simple as that."
The Islanders raised their record to 1-1.
