| Rhinos Need Extra Frames to Get Past Islanders | The Rubber City Rhinos racked up a win at The Rubber Grounds, bumping off the Hawaii Islanders, 3-2. Mark Edwards, who started for Rubber City, pitched effectively for his team. Rubber City reliever John Knight picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Amaui Mahi'ai absorbed the loss. Even with the win, the Rhinos have a dismal 35-72 record.
The Rhinos got a big at-bat from third baseman Yutaka Kato. For the game, Kato went 2-4 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the tenth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Rubber City a 3-2 lead.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Hawaii skipper Leland Ray, "and it cost us."
