| Pioneers Hope Win Turns Around Slow Start | The Vancouver Pioneers did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the San Francisco Earthquakes at Golden Gate Park. Nobody did more than second baseman Rob Muniz, who captured player of the game honors. Dan Miscavage earned the win to go to 2-1. He allowed 3 earned runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. The Earthquakes drop to 5-6 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2038 season.
Muniz had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a 3-0 fastball from Mark Luoto, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Pioneers a 4-3 lead. It was the 4th hit of the year for Muniz.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said San Francisco manager Evan Warner.
