| Pioneers Bang Out 8-3 Win Versus Dallas | The Vancouver Pioneers picked up a win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, knocking off the Dallas Texans, 8-3. On the mound for Vancouver was right-hander Dennis Gates, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 6.2 innings, Gates surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Willard Stady earned his 6th save in 12 chances.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, catcher Ralph Blair came through big-time for the Pioneers. With Vancouver leading 3-2, he belted a solo home run.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Gates said.
