| Fanau Handcuffs Republic, Beavers Seize 3-1 Advantage in R2 | The Portland Beavers moved to within one game of the League Pennant today, downing the So Cal Republic on the road at House of the Republic by a score of 9-3. Beavers right-hander Lakufa'ango Fanau was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Beavers a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Championship.
Fanau, the Portland right-hander, went 7 innings, allowing no earned runs on 4 hits. He collected 9 strikeouts.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Fanau said.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Los Angeles. Slated to start are Felipe De La Hoya for the Portland Beavers and Khurshid Durrani for the the So Cal Republic.
