Beavers, Republic Play 13 to Settle Game 3, Portland Now Leads Series 2-1

With left-hander Yoshiaki Kojima leading the charge, the Portland Beavers got past the So Cal Republic, 7-2, in extra innings in Game 3 of the Divisional Championship today. Kojima threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs at House of the Republic as Portland managed to take to a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Eddie Villegas's hit in the top of the 13th was a game-changer. With no one out, he rapped a fastball from Pin-zhen Au for a solo home run. It put Portland in front, 3-2.

"I felt good up there," said Villegas. "I saw the ball well."

Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at House of the Republic. The scheduled starters for the game are Lakufa'ango Fanau for Portland and Dan Garcia for So Cal.
