| Stogies Rally Past Beavers to Claim 2-1 Series Lead | The Havana Stogies got a strong game from starter Jorge Salazar, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Stogies took the 6-4 win over the Portland Beavers in Game 3 of the League Pennant in a 9th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the left-handed Salazar, who was named player of the game. Salazar threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball in the win, which gave the Stogies a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The Stogies were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when pinch hitter Burt Kavanagh turned a 0-2 changeup from Pete Willoughby into a grand slam home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Havana a thrilling 6-4 win.
"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Havana manager Reynaldo Vázquez told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the League Pennant, it's only going to get harder."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at The Humidor. The scheduled starters for the game are Lakufa'ango Fanau for Portland and Camilo Pascual for Havana.
