| Maple Takes Divisional Championship in Deciding Game | The fans in Maple are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Bloomington.
The Maple Marauders finished off the Bloomington Blazers 14-8 in the deciding game of the Divisional Championship played at Arson Arena.
They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the League Pennant.
For his standout play, Maple right fielder Manny de la Cruz was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .321, drove in 5 runs and scored 7 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to de la Cruz and that doomed us," said Blazers manager Román Cruz. "Hats off to Maple, though. That was a great series."
The Maple Marauders will play against the Kansas City Tornadoes in the next round. Kansas City won their series against the Midland Rockhounds 4 games to 0. The League Pennant schedule will be announced after the Divisional Championship finishes. |
