| Maple Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-2 | The Maple Marauders nearly wasted a strong game from starter Eddie Taveras, but were saved by some timely hitting in a 9th inning walk-off win over the Bloomington Blazers today.
Taveras was named player of the game in the 4-3 win at Legends Park, after he threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. The win allowed Maple to cut the Bloomington lead in the best-of-7 series to 2-3.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Maple trailing 3-2, Manny de la Cruz hit a slider from Victor Hernandez to right for a 2-run home run. Just like that, the Marauders had a walk-off win.
After the game, Maple manager Davey Morris applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday. Slated to start are Rodrigo Garza for the Maple Marauders and Kenko Samurakami for the the Bloomington Blazers.
