| Marauders Get Close Win Over Beavers | The Maple Marauders topped the Portland Beavers, 9-6, with right fielder Manny de la Cruz playing a big role. de la Cruz was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Marauders in the win. Maple reliever Minoru Aoki was credited with the win, to go to 5-4. Quan Que took the loss for Portland. Maple now has a 3-game win streak.
de la Cruz had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 1-2 curveball from Quan Que, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Marauders a 9-6 lead. It was the 16th home run of the year for de la Cruz.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Maple skipper Davey Morris.
